Durga Puja in Cuttack |
Durga Puja in Cuttack is a grand affair, famous not just in the state but in the entire country. What makes it stand out from the rest is the use of Chandi Medhas (or intricately designed silver filigree tableaux) at various puja mandaps.
This year (2019), Durga Puja was celebrated in more than 160 mandaps across the city, of which 26 puja mandaps set-up Chandi medha ('silver filigree' backdrop). In some of the older Durga Puja mandaps like Balu Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Choudhury Bazar, Chauliaganj or Khan Nagar, the organisers spend a whopping more than a crore rupees just on the 'Chandi Medha'.
Every locality has its own unique style in pandal decorations and adornments. I have put together all of the 26 Puja Mandaps that installed Chandi Medha.
Come, let's check them out in the following video.
